The Seaway International Bridge presents itself as a viable option compared to some of the more traveled commercial crossings. This commercial crossing offers minimal transit times and accelerated processing at U.S. and Canadian customs facilities compared to other crossings.

Truck friendly, the bridge allows the highest gross weight for commercial vehicles compared to other bridges in eastern Ontario . Vehicles weighing up to 115,000lbs or 52.5 metric tons do not require an escort.

Bridge Limits

VEHICLES TRANSITING THE THREE NATIONS CROSSING AND SEAWAY INTERNATIONAL BRIDGE ARE SUBJECT TO THE FOLLOWING RESTRICTIONS REGARDING

HEIGHT, WIDTH AND WEIGHT

Height

The height of all vehicles is limited to
4.73 meters or 15 ft. 6 in.
Width

The curb to curb width of the toll plaza is 3.27 meters or 10 ft. 9 in.
Vehicles in excess of this width must be escorted by bridge personnel.

Weight

Vehicles weighing 52,164 kg (52.5 metric tons) 115,000 lbs (57.5 U.S. tons) may transit the bridges without escort at standard rates

Those vehicles weighing between 52.5 metric tons (115,000 lbs.) and 61.2 metric tons (135,000 lbs.) must be escorted.

Vehicles in excess of 61.2 metric tons may be accommodated pending the approval of our engineers (a fee will be charged for this).

Vehicles in need of escort arriving un-announced after normal work hours will be denied passage.

Escort procedure:

  • All transits requiring an escort will be provided a transit time by the Seaway International Bridge Corporation (SIBC).
  • All escorts must be coordinated and approved by SIBC operations using the
    SIBC: Escort Request Form. Click here to download form
  • To allow for staff scheduling, escort arrangements must be made before 13:30 for evening and following day escorts.
  • Escorts must be arranged between 8:00-16:00, 7 days a week.
  • All escorts will be scheduled between 7:00-8:00 and 19:00-20:30 Monday to Friday.
  • Weekend escorts will be scheduled between 7:00-10:30.
  • There will be no escorts performed on holidays.
